The Knockdown Rebuild Process

Hello
The process starts with a conversation with your Design Manager. You’ll sit down with your design manager to discuss your budget and your block, define who you are, what inspires you, and most importantly, what you envision for your home.
Great design outcomes result from our design team truly understanding you and your expectations.

Brief & Design
Here we gather any other information that may affect your brief or our design. We visit your lot and undertake a full site and planning analysis including surveying and soil testing. We want to know all the facts before we start so we can ensure there are no surprises. From these findings, we’ll provide you with an indicative cost of the ideas laid out in your brief. Working from the detailed brief we’ve defined together, we’ll select a façade, plan and design options to suit your taste and needs.

Preconstruction
We will take care of the fine print, developing the documentation pack whilst providing you with a fixed price build contract. You will choose your interior color scheme, finalize your external scheme, options and upgrades. All so you can see exactly what your house will look like, and know exactly what it will cost.

Construction
Now that the design is finalized and final pricing agreed upon – it’s time to break out the tools and make your dream home a reality. We obtain the building permit, order all materials and appoint your site manager. During the construction process, we follow strict and realistic timelines and adopt stringent benchmarks for workmanship. Whether you’re located nearby or not, you’ll be kept up to date at every stage until completion.

Yes, we are a Licensed General Building Contractor in the state of California. License Number B-1090154
How much do your homes cost?
At Better Living we custom design every home to the clients unique lifestyle and family needs, therefore our home's price points are difficult to assume.
How long does it take to build a Better Living® home?
Every custom home we build will have a unique timeline based on the clients specific scope of work. For reference only, we allocate 4 weeks of conceptual design, 12 weeks of architectural and structural design, 20 weeks for local building department permits, and 40 weeks of construction activities. Total time from project commencement to completion is 19 Months.
Is my deposit refundable?
Your deposit goes directly toward the job and is refundable up until the design session. If you go through the design process and decide not to move forward, you would lose the deposit. This covers the initial hours and work our team invests in your project.
