A Better Living home is anything but ordinary, and our custom Create process shows precisely why. Beginning with the freedom of the blank page, you’ll first work with our in-house Architects and Design team to discover and define your vision, and then with our experienced construction team to realize it. The entire process of your Architecturally designed, custom built home is managed in-house meaning the very same people will be with you right from start to finish – no need for to-ing and fro-ing between contractors. Just our signature five-star service, and quality that’s six decades in the making.

Start From Scratch

Embark on designing and building your custom Better Living Home. Work with our in house Architect and Design team to create a home designed around your needs. We make the process of building simple.

Understanding your vision

Create starts with a conversation with an experienced Design Manager. Great design outcomes result from our design team truly understanding you, your budget and your expectations. At Better Living, we know that design is all about people, which is never more true than when it comes to designing and building custom homes.

We need to understand who you are. What are your ideas and what inspires you? Your family dynamics and of course your block of land will also tell its own story. We arrange to visit the site with you and review ideas. Above all, we never lose sight of the fact that this is your home and you need to fall in love with every inch of it. We want to know all the facts before we start so we can ensure there are no surprises. We will openly discuss your budget as well as; document the adjoining properties, the features of your property, ensure the accuracy of your land title boundaries, soil condition reports and the locations of all services. It is at this stage that a preliminary deposit is then payable to assume the next step in your custom home build.

Create your vision

You will now meet with our in-house Architect and your Design Manager to discuss and further develop your individual brief. Our Architect gets to further understand you, your unique requirements and discover your style and inspiration to ensure the design possibilities match your vision.

Now that we have all of this information, the true beauty of custom home design really begins. Our Architect will develop an initial concept of your home based on the design brief we have developed with you. Because we don’t settle for the conventional way of doing things – your concept will be carefully prepared and presented to you by way of hand drawn Architectural design sketches – this will include a visualization of the look of your external façade and your floorplan details.

Detail the finishes

Beautiful custom homes are not built by accident. At Better Living, the design process is thorough and you will continue to work closely with our Architect and Design Manager to fine-tune the details until you are comfortable with the plans and external
elevations. At this point we will present you with a preliminary costing to ensure we are still within your budget and expectations.

From here we will develop computer generated drawings, including 3D images. Once the design is complete, a specification of materials and finishes will be provided to you, so you can have confidence we are working towards your design and financial goals.

We want you to contemplate the design outcome as a full package, consider all of the facts to enable you to make controlled and informed decisions. Once you are happy with the outcome you will approve our preconstruction agreement and an additional payment will then move your home forward to the next stage. Should town planning be required our experienced
team are here to guide you through every step of the way.

Visualization

The stage where every little detail is considered. We will now develop all of the documentation required – ready for our construction team to build your dream home. During this stage we offer you a comprehensive and integrated interior design consultation with our interiors team. Nothing is left to chance, including furnishings, light fittings, floor coverings and appliances.

Our Interiors team will guide you through one of the most exciting phases of your journey and offer unparalleled advice. We are proud to offer this as another unique feature of your journey with Better Living Homes. This is the stage of the process where you will sign your building contract. Better Living use the plain English Housing Industry Association building contracts where we bring together all of the designs, materials, colors and engineering details into one final document. At this point the balance of deposit, less the previous initial deposits, is payable.

Construction

Once contracts have been signed, Better Living will obtain the required building permit. We will pre-order all building materials and appoint an experienced Site Manager ready for the start of construction. Better Living work to strict building timelines and keep you up-to-date every step of the way. You can’t rush quality and you can’t cut corners on workmanship, so our timelines are realistic to ensure we deliver on our promise that your home will be built to impeccable quality standards. Finally after all those months of planning and unwavering attention to every detail, your dream is now a reality. Your custom designed Better Living home is ready for you to move in. However, this is not the end of our commitment to you. Better Living stand by our quality and are there for support for many more years to come should the need arise.
